And then I couldn't even get my pad to work, so I ended up using mouse and keyboard. I'm not a fan of PnCs being designed for gamepad. Didn't click too much with me._.įirst bummer are the controls. Oh and did I mention that clicking on the main character Little Misfortune has her throw glitter on things to make them happy versions!įinally came around to playing it and sadly I have to be the party pooper. It's definitely shaping up to be a great game from what I've played and I'd highly recommend it for people who like fairytales and dark humor. Back in the day this would be kinda like Spike & Mike's animation level of X-rated humor, but Southpark and stuff has kinda normalized it so it's more just dark R rated humor.Īnyhow, the art is great! The writing is great! The VA is.interesting (the lead artist voices the main character and she's got a pretty strong accent you're either gonna love or hate or feel it fits in with the weirdness ).

From what I've played of the game it looks like they really cut back on the gore to appeal to a wider audience (and also cut down on the puzzles, focusing more of choices with different outcomes), but even if it's not as violent and gory as Fran Bow, I'd say what I've played of Little Misfortune is even darker than that game. Now Little Misfortune follows the same style as Fran Bow, it's a charming funny fairy tale about very dark stuff (dead kids and stuff). If you haven't played Fran Bow yet, I really recommend you give it a shot. I'd say Fran Bow is probably closest to a horror/R-rated Undertale.

It was actually a really charming fairy tale, just made for people that enjoy macabre stuff.

Fran Bow was a Grimm Fairy-tale-ish macabre adventure full of horrible violence & gore and dark themes but it was not a dark or mean game. Litte Misfortune is a new interactive adventure by Killmonday games who made the widely praised and very good point n' click adventure Fran Bow. Platforms: Steam, Origin, Humble Store, GOG so far (likely will be ported since the interface is controller friendly and Fran Bow was on mobile)ĭo you like dark fucked up stuff (w/humor)? Do you like wonderful fairy tales with great art, music, va? Do you like Swedish games? Do you like Foxes? I completed the game in a bit under 2 hours even while having no idea what I was doing, so it's also a pretty short game and there's nothing to do once you've finished apart from get achievements and restart the game as far as I can see.Price: $19.99 or $17.99 if you own Fran Bow on the same platform Worth a play if you already have the humble bundle with all 12 choices, but I wouldn't buy it on it's own. Overall I'm gonna have to give this game a 3/5, it's by no means a terrible game but personally like I said, it just feels like I'm watching one of those Netflix interactive films with a bit more interaction.

That being said, I did enjoy the storyline, if you're someone who values the storyline over the actual gameplay then definitely feel free to go ahead and play this game. So the game in itself isn't massively entertaining personally, to me it felt like I was watching an interactive film, no matter what you do the story always leads to the same place and it's more of an adventure that you watch. So I did a review a few days ago on darksiders 3 and a few people appreciated it so I thought I'd review little misfortune as well.
